This is a new website replacing the longstanding Newquay Old Cornwall Society website and is an ongoing project in the course of construction. Please bear with us and much more information will be added as soon as possible.

Newquay Museum is run by volunteers from Kowethas Kernow Goth Tewynblustri (Newquay Old Cornwall Society). We collect, preserve and share knowledge, artefacts, photographs documents and carryout research about the districts historical and cultural heritage. The Newquay Old Cornwall Society areas of special interest cover Newquay and the surrounding parishes of Colan, Crantock, Cubert, St Columb Minor, St Eval, St Mawgan and St Newlyn East.

Museum partner Kowethas Ertach Kernow (Association for Cornish Heritage) have a gallery room which also hosts the Cornish Coffee Lounge. There is a Cornish research room with a wide range of books to help answer any research or general enquiries about Cornwall and its historic and cultural heritage.

Regrettably lack of volunteers and local support has led to changes in the way the museum operates. This is not all bad news and Newquay Museum is evolving to meet its challenges and increase the number of people we are able to share Newquay's heritage with. Working with our museum partner Kowethas Ertach Kernow our aim is to make information available online to a worldwide audience.

Newquay Museum is an entirely volunteer led museum and archive and is not supported by the local town council relying entirely on donations and fund raising

Newquay Museum's inhouse coffeeshop reopened on 21st April and is now the 'Cornish Coffee Lounge'. Here we welcome 'One and All' in this fully inclusive space and encourage small groups wanting to make it a base of operation for meetings and activities. We look forward to meeting all those who love Cornwall and Cornish history, culture and our environment.

The Cornish Coffee Lounge will be hosting a range of activities, illustrated talks, exhibitions and music events over the coming months. Used by many smaller groups as a place to meet as well as local folk catching up with friends we hope that you too will join us.

This is an ongoing project that originated during May 2021 with a collaboration between Newquay Museum and Newquay Library as a Local History & Community Month project.
