Begun as a Platinum Jubilee project covering the period of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II reign, following conclusion of the Jubilee this project will continue adding to the years covered and also to the content for each year with events from throughout Cornwall. This is an ongoing project, a positive working legacy of the 2022 Jubilee.

2011

The Lighthouse Cinema in Newquay opened on 6th May 2011. It is operated by the independent WTW Cinemas, who operated cinemas in Truro, St. Austell and Wadebridge. It is the first cinema to operate in the town for 16 years, since the Camelot Cinema closed.

2012

Olympic Torch relay - The first day of the torch relay, which travelled through Cornwall, has been hailed a "brilliant success". Cornwall firms called up for Olympics. With such a huge event comes the need for goods ranging from dry meats to marine police helmets, and Cornish companies are among those that have been called up to provide them.

2013

Perranporth Carnival 2013 started on Saturday 27 July 2013. There are activities all day long, with the roads being closed and a procession in the evening after 6.30pm. There was no theme that year for the procession and floats. Carnival Prince and Princess Miles Bunday and Kimmie Welch led the parade.

2014

In 2014 Open Studios Cornwall ran between Saturday 24th May and Sunday 1st June. 

2015

Poldark remake broadcasts - While the 1975 drama based on the novels of Winston Graham was solid if not untouchably brilliant, the new Poldark remake perfectly reflects current trends in TV. 

2016

Cornwall hosts the English National Surfing Championships - The early May Bank holiday of 2016, Watergate Bay played host to the English Surfing Federation’s, English National Surfing Championships in association with Quiksilver and Roxy, who through their support of the Event had competitors of all ages from the U12s to the over 45 year old veterans and promised for the first time equal prize money to both the male and female surfers in the Open and Longboard Categories. 

The event started off on a beautifully sunny day, gradually getting busier and busier as it progressed. At 7:30 in the morning a solid queue began to develop as check in for the junior events started, and by 7:45 the queue was snaking its way back towards the Watergate Bay Hotel.

2017

Newquay Centenary Lifeboat - On Wednesday 13th December 2017, Newquay Held a 100 year Centenary to mark the event Newquay suffered a near disaster with the loss of the town’s lifeboat James Stevens No.5, when the RNLI volunteers launched into a gale to rescue sailors from a steamship in difficulties at Holywell.  

2018

Falmouth Raises more than £2000 - A Team from Falmouth raised more than £2,000 as a total of 100 fundraisers braved a cold, drizzly night outside the Eden Project Biomes to raise much-needed money for two regional homelessness charities. 

Bedding down on solid ground in paper sleeping bags, they experienced first-hand a little of the discomfort which people sleeping rough endure every night. 

2019

Primestock Show 2019 - The annual Primestock Christmas Show brings the countryside to the heart of Our Great Little city, Lemon Quay and is a firm Truro favourite.  

On Wednesday 4th December visitors came to enjoy day that celebrated Cornwall's agricultural community. Competition in the cattle, sheep and farm produce exhibitions is fierce with entrants from across the county competing for a much-loved Champion title. This is followed by an auction of the cattle and sheep - a must see spectacle for anyone who hasn't been to a Prime stock show. 

2020

Christmas comes to the Isles of Scilly. The Steamship Company has been helping to bring Christmas to Scilly for 100 years and marked its centenary this year, having been originally founded in 1920.

For the last nine months of 2020 company staff have worked tirelessly to keep the islands supplied through two lockdowns, and during the busy summer when travel restrictions were lifted and the islands saw an influx of visitors.
